From the Workshop to the World: Inside the Junto Wood Design Process
Every Junto piece starts in the same place: with raw, certified wood and a deep respect for its origin. What follows is a process shaped by conversation, tradition, and hands-on craft.
Step 1: Listening First
Before we draw or cut anything, we listen — to your needs, your space, and your ideas. Whether it’s a dining table, a retail counter, or a unique commission, the dialogue is essential.
Step 2: Sketching with Intention
We sketch everything by hand. This stage is where ideas breathe. Form, proportion, and detail are explored freely, without shortcuts.
Step 3: Selecting the Right Wood
From oak to Portuguese walnut to kambala, every board is chosen with care. We consider not just species, but grain direction, tone, and texture. Sustainability is non-negotiable: all our wood is certified and traceable.
Step 4: Building by Hand
We use traditional techniques like Japanese joinery and Shou Sugi Ban wood carbonisation. No industrial shortcuts. No hidden screws. Just honest, visible craft.
Step 5: Delivery with Purpose
From our Lisbon workshop to homes, hotels, and institutions in Portugal and abroad — each piece is delivered with the same care it was made with. Because our work doesn’t end in the workshop; it begins in your space.
