We’ve had the chance to create bespoke furniture for offices and hospitality spaces, both in Portugal and abroad—and every project matters to us. That said, some stand out for their scale and complexity. The table at the Champalimaud Foundation is definitely one of them.
It was a big challenge, and one we’re still proud of. We worked closely with the interior designers at Paris:Sete, which made the whole process even more rewarding.
The result is an 11-metre table that wraps around the building’s metal columns as if it was always meant to be there. Getting there, though, took some serious problem-solving—from sourcing the timber to refining the design and finally assembling everything on site.
All the wood came from a single oak tree, which allowed us to keep a consistent grain across the entire surface—even with part of the table suspended. Oak felt like the right choice: strong, reliable, and with just the right amount of character.
Fitting the table around the existing metal columns wasn’t straightforward, and installation required a team of six working together on site to bring it all into place.
A demanding project, but exactly the kind we enjoy.
